Metairie Condo Contents Pack Out and Mold Damage Remediation Plan Developed by SERVPRO of Metairie
Mike Mcglone of SERVPRO of Metairie describes the steps required to remediate a mold damage scenario in a local condominium. SERVPRO of Metairie responded when the condo owner found two other mold remediation firms did not meet her standards.
Once on the site, we realized the previous testing may not have determined the extent of the mold damage on the property. We engaged the services of a new mold inspector and the condominium received a thorough evaluation before we started the project. As suspected, the mold problem was more significant than it appeared during the first analysis.
Armed with this knowledge, the SERVPRO mold remediation team first installed a negative air pressure containment system throughout the condo. This system allows us to divide the premises into zones we can treat and test as we complete the remediation process. Wearing personal protective equipment, the SERVPRO crew positions the containment system, using a series of plastic tubes and the negative pressure equipment to vent mold debris to the outside.
Once the containment system is in place, Mike notes the crew’s next step is to inventory and pack out the contents of the condo. The client's furnishings and belongings receive cleaning at our production site while we remove and dispose of the visible mold within the condo unit. Our team cleans all surfaces and structures within the client’s home, ensuring that no debris remains that could reactivate into new mold colonies.
The goal is to return the customer’s condo to a clean and sanitary condition. Mike indicates that prior to moving items back into the space, testing of all zones created by the containment system must show acceptable air quality and lack of active mold growth. He is confident that the work done by his mold remediation teammates should make the grade.
Finally, the client and her contractor can reenter the condominium and the contents cleaned and stored by SERVPRO also can be returned as the mold remediation succeeds in its goals. Mike and his crew intend for a result that has everyone pleased that the remediated space is just “Like it never even happened.”
